The sophmore transfer from Iowa State brought immense energy to the team and was easily their best ball handler. He also led the team in assists and was hitting 50% from behind the arc.

Profiling Kyle Singler: Duke’s Maui MVP

Kyle Singler, the 6′8″ guard out of Oregon, announced his presence to the college basketball world this week as he became the MVP of the Maui Invitational in Hawaii. In a hard fought game against 13th ranked Marquette, Singler led Duke to a 77-73 win with 25 points and 7 rebounds. Tarheels escape Stephen Curry’s Davidson

The #1 ranked North Carolina Tarheels barely escaped the upset minded Davidson Wildcats in a 40 minute battle that could have gotten either way down the stretch. Led by Stephen Curry, son of former NBA sharpshooter, Dell Curry, Davidson played like a team that was hardly intimidated by the name on the front of the blue jersey. Curry led the Wildcats with 24 points, while teammates Richards and Lovedale added 12 points a piece.

UNC is preseason #1

North Carolina is ranked as the preseason favorite to win the national championship by the Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook. The Tarheels, which return two time All-ACC performer Tyler Hansbrough, are likely to face its stiffest challenge from UCLA and Georgetown. Among other ACC teams, only Duke, NC State, and Clemson are ranked in the preseason top 25.
